  • The internet opens up a whole potential of business opportunities and learning
  • Have a niche, but maybe start broad to figure out what works best for you and your customers. Then, narrow it down from there.
  • Go through your stats to see what people are liking and searching for to get inspiration of what to create and sell
  • Google search to see how saturated your product/design is
  • Revisit a design after a day or two. Take your time with it. You may find you don’t love it as much and have fresh eyes again to self-critique
  • When you feel inspired, go for it! When you’re feeling flustered or tired and the inspiration flies out the window, stop.
  • Ask very specific questions to customers in the beginning of the design process.
  • Cons for starting an internet based business; it can be very low cost and low risk!
  • The internet makes it easy to learn pretty much anything.
  • Working from home online gives you the ability to set your own hours – which can be both good and bad.
  • Create what your customers are asking for! You’re in the business for them, and they can steer you where you will succeed.
  • Do what works for you! You are your own boss.
  • Prior to starting a business, like an Etsy shop, do research beforehand. Set up a business plan and have a direction to go.
  • The internet is always changing, it’s ok (and totally normal!) for your business to change as well.
  • Just TRY and jump in!
