If you’re struggling with Etsy sales or what to put in your listing title, this is for you! These Etsy title tips and tricks are a game changer! I recently posted what to do if you’re struggling with Etsy sales and how to break through in a saturated market and increase your sales! To review, here’s the tried and true practices I’ve used to help grow my sales:

  • Have a rich SEO listing title
  • Use an eye-catching, clean and professional-looking main listing photo
  • Clearly describe your product
  • Make it OBVIOUS what the product is and how it’s used
  • Have multiple products in your shop (I recommend at least 30). Make sure all products are in the same niche.
  • Strive for high reviews and customer service
  • Use ads (and if they aren’t working, re-evaluate the suggestions above)

How to create a rich SEO listing title with these title tips

First things first, what the heck is SEO?

SEO stands for: Search Engine Optimization

And it’s realllllllly important in the online world. It’s the way you tell the internet what to look for.

Google is the prime example of a search engine. What you type into the search bar are essentially keywords. And those keywords tell Google to show relevant information according to the keywords you typed in. The websites that pull up in your search results have optimized their sites, titles, descriptions, etc so that Google will find them when a person like you, initiates a search.

The same goes for Etsy and any other marketplace. How do your customers find your products? By typing in search terms (keywords) to help them find what they’re looking for.

So if you aren’t using the same keywords in your title that your customers are using to search for what they’re looking for, how will you be found? Chances are, you won’t.

How do you create a rich SEO listing title on Etsy? Here’s some of my favorite Etsy title tricks (in no particular order):

  1. Go to Google, Etsy, Amazon, or any other search or marketplace you’d like. Put yourselves in your customers shoes and type in what you think they’re looking for. And watch the search bar auto-populate similar searches! Those, my friend, are your golden keywords to use in your listing title. Do that at multiple sites, not just Google or Etsy. See what phrases come up in the search. Try a few different ones.
  2. Scout out your competition. Browse around what other similar sellers are doing. BUT, are those sellers doing well? Pay attention to your competition that are doing well and see how they’ve listed their titles to get ideas (but please don’t steal their titles, word for word – that’s not cool).
  3. Use the Chrome extension “keywords everywhere“. This is a handy tool I’ve used for years. When you search something, you’ll see in the edge of your browser other keywords related to your search. This is a great tool for finding more keywords that you may not be thinking of. And it works for other websites, not just Google!
  4. Try erank.com to find keywords. I personally haven’t tried this trick yet. But I hear good things and will be looking into it soon!

Why should you trust me on SEO and keywords?

Shortly after my 1st child was born, I went back to school to pursue a visual technology certificate. As part of my education, I was required to take web design classes. Which I absolutely loved. I learned how to code HTML websites from scratch. WordPress wasn’t really a thing yet, nor Wix or other site-builder platforms. During this time, I had a growing photography business. So I made my own website with the new skills I had acquired.

I stuffed my website and my backend code with keywords.

Included were all the keywords that people would use to find a photographer in my areas. Guess what happened? I was #1 in search results for YEARS. While I had good word-of-mouth referrals, half of my clients were from out of town and knew no photographer personally in my area. I loved serving people from all over the world who wanted to create memories of the beautiful place I live in.

Keywords WORK and they are VITAL to your product being seen.

If you made it this far, thank you for sticking along with this! I hope this has been helpful! I LOVE keywords and SEO (yes, I’m a nerd.. but nerds are smart 😉). The next post will be about using an eye-catching, clean and professional-looking main listing photo. And since you now know I have photography experience, you won’t want to miss it!
